Erik ten Hag will join Man Utd on a three-year deal – with option of a further year – in the summer; Dutchman replaces Ralf Rangnick, with interim boss set to take up consultancy role at Old Trafford; Neville: “Ten Hag has got a big job to get the club back up to minimum standards” 

Gary Neville says Erik ten Hag won’t be under pressure to win trophies for at least three years, such is the scale of the job he has to rebuild Manchester United. 

The Ajax boss was named as United’s new manager on Thursday and will take up the role from interim head coach Ralf Rangnick in the summer.

Relegation or Promotion for Burnley?

Burnley face Southampton at Turf Moor on Thursday night (7.45pm) live on Sky Sports.
Having fired their coach, the team is being managed by Under-23s manager Mike Jackson acting as interim manager with Burnley in 18th place with seven games left.
The big question that everyone is asking is, Can Burnley win this game to avoid relegation?
The former Preston North End and Bury defender is adamant Burnley can stay up.

“Yes, definitely. I believe it. You have got to. I have seen enough in the group. I know this group had been there before. I have seen the reaction and the response, how they all came together the other day. Those signs are good. I see bits in the play where they are starting to think, this is possible. I think there is enough in this group.”
The funs of course want the team to keep climbing the division. They all have eyes on a top ten position.
The only chance they have now is in the last six games to climb positions or to lose positions and this is the goal now. There is no time for looking for who can get a chance, it should be a very clear message for everybody that the best XI should play and they get the chance to play.

Arsenal aim for all 3 points in crucial London derby

Coming off the back of a different run of results in their weekend matchups, Chelsea and Arsenal prepare for battle in Wednesday’s Premier League London derby at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues beat Crystal Palace 2-0 in their FA Cup semi-final over the weekend, while Mikel Arteta’s side had an unwelcome and relatively shocking loss to Southhampton, the defeat to the saints made it a third straight defeat in the league consequently knocking themselves off the top position for a top 4 finish. A much-improved performance will be required if the gunners are to stir up any hopes of a top 4 finish. Erik ten Hag: What can Man Utd expect if they appoint Ajax boss as their new manager

Erik ten Hag was never really one of those people who made it clear he had massive ambitions to be one of the world’s top coaches. He is a very humble man and a modest coach.

That has a lot to do with his background. He comes from the east of the Netherlands where there’s a very down-to-earth mentality and where people speak with a very strong accent. They are a bit less flash there and they look up to those from Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague, the places where the big offices, industry and the country’s parliament are.

But despite that background – and he does have a strong accent – Ten Hag’s situation is different. Financially there is no motivation and no need to go for the big jobs at any stage in his career because he comes from a very rich family, and his father and brothers are multi-millionaires. They own a real estate company and other financial firms.

His father wanted him to go into that company but from a young age Erik was such a brilliant footballer – he was a star for FC Twente as a defender – that he made it clear he had no interest in pursuing that line of work.

However, that family wealth means he doesn’t need the big jobs. He knows he doesn’t need football to survive so he can follow his own principles, where other managers might compromise to stay in their jobs.

Manchester City VS Liverpool: A potential title decider

The gap between the two sides at the top of the English Premier League table now stands at just one point, with the reigning champions Manchester City just about holding off the threat of the Reds for the time being. LEICESTER CITY TO HOST PSV EINDHOVEN

The Foxes are this evening set to host Dutch opposition as they continue to make ground in the Europa conference league tonight. The match is the first of a two-legged quarter-final tie for a place in the semi-finals of the inaugural edition of the competition. Chelsea to host LaLiga leaders Real Madrid in crucial Champions League Clash

Chelsea welcome LaLiga giants Real Madrid for the first leg of their Champions league quarter final tie at Stamford bridge on Wednesday. This match comes at the back of a shocking 4-1 defeat to 14th Placed Premier league side Brentford on Saturday. The London club will look to use this opportunity to get back to winning ways.

The challenge of hosting the Los Blancos has already been expressed by Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel. The German manager in his own words said, “It is a big challenge and also there’s big excitement around this match and fixture. We know what is coming and it will be a tough challenge.” The German boss is expected to have at least 7 of his most influential players available for the game including Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount.

Crossing over to Real Madrid, manager Carlo Ancelotti will not travel with his side today due to a positive Covid 19 test picked up last week in his side’s 2-1 win over Celta Vigo. Arsenal ready to take on Crystal Palace as Tomiyasu and Saka face possible return.

Arsenal head to Selhurst Park on Monday [04/04/2022] evening having been boosted by positive news over two squad members. The Gunners could potentially be set to welcome back both Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu back into the squad.

Academy graduate Saka has been ruled out for the past fortnight, missing international duty with England, having tested positive for Covid. He is set to return to Mikel Arteta ’s squad for the trip to Crystal Palace. Saka has registered 9 goals in 28 appearances for the gunners in the premier league this season.

There is also more good news on the fitness front regarding Tomiyasu, with the Japanese international having not made a Premier League appearance since early January. The former Bologna man has been struggling with calf injuries and Arteta has suggested that he could potentially be in contention.

Mbappe, Messi and Neymar All Score in PSG

Kylian Mbappe scored twice and provided three assists as Paris St-Germain kept their 12-point lead at the top of Ligue 1 with victory over lowly Lorient. Neymar stroked in the opener and PSG’s fifth, both from Mbappe through-balls.

Mbappe coolly drilled home in the first half and took his tally to 17 for the season with a rasping finish, before laying off for Lionel Messi’s goal. Terem Moffi pulled a goal back in the second half, but the loss means Lorient stay a point above the drop zone.

France striker Mbappe could have had a hat-trick in a virtuoso display, but struck the foot of the post late on.
